Buffalo State will be searching for a new vice president for Finance and Management, after former Vice President Stanley Kardonsky abruptly stepped down from the post on Oct. 14.
Kardonsky had been the vice president for Finance and Management for 18 years.
President Aaron Podolefsky made the announcement to staff and faculty through an email, without giving a reason for the sudden resignation.
Kardonsky will remain on staff, Podolefsky said.
“He will maintain his status as a member of the Buffalo State faculty and has graciously assured me that he will be available to work with us to ensure a smooth transition,” Podolefsky said in the email.
Voldemar Innus will take over as interim vice president for Finance and Management until a replacement is found, Podolefsky said. Innus had been special assistant to the president before the personnel change.
“Voldemar served for many years as the University at Buffalo’s senior associate vice president for university services, responsible for units similar to those that fall under the umbrella of Finance and Management at Buffalo State, so I am confident that he will be an exceptional leader in this role,” Podolefsky said.
President Podolefsky also thanked Kardonsky for his years spent as head of the Finance and Management Office.
“I thank Dr. Kardonsky for his 18 years of leadership and service to Buffalo State,” he said.
When asked for an interview on his resignation, Kardonsky declined to comment.
“While I respect your obligation to report the story, I will not be available for an interview nor will I offer a statement,” he replied in an email.
Requests for a statement from Podolefsky and Innus went unanswered.
Public Relations Director Jerod Dahlgren said the college would not comment further on the resignation, as it is a “personnel matter.”
A national search for Kardonsky’s replacement will be launched “immediately,” Podolefsky said.
