Where did all the students go?
You can find a parking spot during the day now.
The computers in the study quad are actually available.
These are all signs that the 2012 fall semester is coming to a close. But why would students who put up
with September and October just quit in November?
It’s frustrating to see so many students drop or quit classes with only a couple weeks left.
It doesn’t make any sense. You pay for your classes, and you put an honest effort into your schoolwork.
If you give up now, you’re just selling yourself short.
College is supposed to be hard. When you pick your classes out on Banner, there’s not a big flashing
light next to your classes or electives that says “easy.”
You have to work hard to pass. Nothing in life is easy, and when you work hard for something it means
so much more.
Some students don’t seem to understand how much hard work and dedication they need to give to their
classes.
Priorities are key. If you’re in school, then school should be your number one priority.
Let me say this again, so it sticks – school is your number one priority.
Listen to your professors because if you’re nervous about your grade, then this is the time to talk about
it. They get paid to help you.
Care about yourself and what you do. A business is not going to hire you if you have a bad work ethic.
Finish what you started. It’s the best way to get better.
If you fail a class, use it to motivate you for the next semester. Show the professor you don’t give up,
and guarantee yourself a better grade the next time out.
If you’re not ready for college, then save your money or your parent’s money by trying out the
workforce. If you decide in the future that you need school, then come back.
Buffalo State, like most colleges, will not deny you if you have an interest in school. It just takes effort
on your part to get things in order.
The college door is always open. Pick the pieces right back up from where you left them and remember
where your mistakes were and improve yourself from there.
At the end of the day, you feel better when you gave your best effort. Nobody’s perfect and even the
below average student will graduate.
Why would you quit now? The semester is almost over and your months of hard work will pay off in
the long run.
Every student you pass in the hallway or parking lot is going through the same thing as you.
Homework, tests and quizzes are the norm for all students.
If you had a problem this semester, pick a better schedule next semester. You’re in charge of your
destiny.
Seek help if you need it – I can’t stress that enough. Quitting is for losers and nobody likes a loser.
Finish out the semester strong and turn yourself into a better person.
