FSA show depicts style around the globe

Pull out your best designer clothes, strap on your pumps, and get ready for the last show of
the semester.
The Fashion Student Association is at it again.
On Saturday night at the Holiday Inn downtown, FSA will host their annual runway show.
Red carpet and cocktail hour starts at 7 p.m., followed by the show at 8 p.m. This year the
show is titled "Mondiale", which is French for "global."
"We wanted to highlight global fashion and show why diversity is important," said
President Binta Barry.
Steven London, a broadcast journalism major, will be hosting the show.
This year the aim is to showcase the students' talent and have a good turnout.
The show was originally an outdoor event, taking place in the union quad earlier in the
semester, but due to weather conditions it was cancelled and rescheduled for Saturday,
Dec. 1.
Barry said she believes that the rescheduling was both a good and bad thing because FSA
had a lot planned, but they were also allowed more preparation time.
"Good things fall apart so good things can come together," Barry said.
Public relations Fatima Toure said the hardest part in preparing for the show was getting
people back on board after the cancellation of the original date, but eventually students
came around.
"It's a little bit of a bonding experience for the models, we get a chance to get to know each
other, make new friends, and meet designers," Trivet Jarmond, one of the models, said.
Jarmond and other models expressed how excited they are for the show.
Although models and e-board members are excited, designer Naquasia Boyd said she just
wants to get it over with.
Boyd has been preparing since the summer and was disappointed when the show was first
cancelled.
"My boss was spending money to come to the show. She was going to have professional
photographers," Boyd said.
She said the worst part during preparation was not being organized.
"When they first started this fashion show there was no theme, then a couple days after
they said there's a theme," Boyd said.
Although Boyd may be unhappy with the way FSA puts a show together, others think
differently.
Another designer, Samuel Boakye, said everything is a blessing in disguise, referring to the
cancellation of the show.
"They really know what they're doing, and I definitely give a 'big ups' to FSA, and especially
Binta," Boakye said.
The show is free and open to all Buff State students who come out and support.
