Positive thoughts yield results

Words have magical powers. You want something? Just say it, believe it and you'll get it. Not happy
with how your life is right now? Wish you had a better job? Better grades? A better relationship? Just
say it and believe it. It's that simple.
You can completely transform your life just by saying what you want. Start your day on a positive note.
If you wake up feeling tired and have a day full of classes, work and other obligations ahead of you,
simply say the opposite of what you feel. The key is to say it out loud: "I'm full of energy and I will
have a successful day," or something along those lines. It's important to not just say it, but also believe
it in your heart.
I discovered the power of positive thinking over the winter break when I was going through a rough
time and nothing seemed to be going my way. I wasn't doing well in school and had relationship
problems. Even though I'm not religious and never truly believed in God, one day I was so desperate
that I said, "God, please help me. Get me out of this situation somehow." Amazingly, when I turned
the TV on that same day, Oprah was on and she was having a conversation with a pastor named Joel
Osteen. He was talking about the power of positive thinking and how you are what you believe.
"I wanna talk to you about the power of I am. What follows those simple words determines the kind
of life you live," he said. "'I am blessed, I am strong, I am healthy,' or 'I am slow, I am unattractive.'
The 'I am's that are coming out of your mouth will bring either success or failure."
I was hooked on his words, absorbing his message. He wasn't the first motivational speaker I had ever
heard, but something was different that time. Something inside me clicked, and I truly understood and
believed him. I even bought his book, called "I Declare: 31 Promises to Speak Over Your Life."
I knew the key to being successful was not just to read the book, but also truly believe what I had
learned and put it into practice. I had to apply the message to my life, not only understand it and agree
with it, which is what I had done before, after listening to other motivational speakers.
So I took action right away. The following day I started my morning by saying, "God, thank you for
this day and for everything you've given me. I know everything happens for a reason and I know I will
have a wonderful relationship with a strong, loving person." I kept repeating those words every single
day for about a month and sure enough, that person came into my life.
My other wish was to get an A in the history class I was taking over the break. So, as I was taking one
of the tests, I kept repeating to myself, "I will get above a 90. About a 96." I truly believed it and sure
enough, my grade was a 95.9! I then kept repeating, "I'm going to get an A in this class," and I did get
I still start my day by saying out loud, "God, thank you for this day and for everything you've given
me. I know good things will come my way." It's unbelievable how much peace, joy, and confidence
those simple words bring into my heart. My life turned around after I embraced that positive attitude.
I am now once again the good student I had always been; I got a job offer; and I strengthened my
relationship with my family and friends.
You don't have to be religious or believe in God to bring positivity into your life. All you have to do is
say out loud what you want, and "say it like you mean it," repeatedly. Every day.
The other necessary component is taking action. I wouldn't have gotten that A if I hadn't actually
studied. So if you want a better job, start looking. If you want better grades, dedicate more time to
school. If you want a better relationship, get out of the one you're in. Just say it, believe it, and do it. It's
that simple. So start now!
