took cultural anthro, really fun class! He showed fascinating clips and kept powerpoints fascinating and accommodating. Need to read the book for the tests but the friendly part is that the quiz questions tend to show up on the exam. The writing projects are challenging but impartial. exams aren't difficult.
Thought this class would be a lot easier, esp since I had already taken a 200 level anth course. Well, I was wrong. I like Aimers a lot as a prof. but he definitely expected a lot out of the students for an intro level class. exams were difficulter than expected but bearable. The material was fascinating but I just couldn't devote the time to it.
Highly enthusiastic teacher. Reading tests require you to do the reading but they are a big grade booster. The wiki projects were relatively short and simple considering they were the bulk of the final grade, and he makes it clear what he wants from each assignment and gives constructive feedback which is useful in improving your writing.
great teacher. He was clear on what he wanted from every assignment (detailed assignment documents are available online) and gave clear and sufficient feedback. Really fascinating material and he's quirky, but engaging. The reading tests are really thorough. exams are specific, but all multiple choice. Don't take for an simple A, but it's worth it.
I thought this class was going to be really fascinating but it was just filled with dull lecture and powerpoint slides. He is pretty lenient on grading wiki entries, I didn't try at all and got great grades. The reading tests suck; they are way to picky and count for a huge chunk of your grade. I do not plan on taking another class with Aimers.
Seems laid back in class, but he is a very difficult prof.. If you dont like reading or writing WIKI entries in 400 words or less on a chapter 170 pgs. long, then DO NOT TAKE! He is a stickler on citations, and grammar. He is not afraid to tear your paper apart. And his main form of examing is multiple choice...and not the simple friendly either.
I have to agree with the two previous comments. The prof. can be particular and critical with grading, yet scatterbrained when it comes to the courses. I regret taking this class. |
