The reviews for her are totally off. I was expecting something totally different than who she was because of what I read on here. There is a lot of reading, but you don't have to do all of it. There were no exams in our class, just papers and in-class tests that were on the readings. If you want to learn take Dr. Crosby, it's a real history class.
Very dedicated and passionate about her work. Has a difficult time with students who do not agree with her. A ton of reading. A ton of work. All that being said, her courses changed my life.
Stay away from Crosby if you want to keep your gpa. She assigns so much to read after each class and has a quiz in the beginning of each class. They're not even fun readings. Her exams and papers are brutal. If you're looking for a core requirement for history, don't take this one!
This prof. is very dedicated to her work but the amount of material given is outrageous for a history 100 level course. I would recommend her to history majors but for everyone else stay away because of the enormous workload and tests every class. I have learned there was waa a reason why this was the only American history class left open.
I took HIST 391 (Senior seminar) with Dr. Crosby and I ABSOLUTELY liked IT. Yes, a lot of reading, reflection papers, film reviews, and a 30 pg. final paper at the end but I enjoyed every minute of her class. Her course got me interested in the Civil Rights movement of the 60's and I attained invaluable knowledge. Take her if you enjoy learning! |
