Honestly, the great Chem teacher I've had and I've had 5 of them from three different schools. A genuinely friendly guy that cares how you do as well. His grade is primarily made up by the exams and final. There is a curve as well which helps lessen the pain of the number 75=B this yr. Material to most was difficult but its Organic Chem what a shock.
Geiger is really intelligent and definitely knows what he's doing; however, he often expects his students to know a lot more than they actually do. Grade is based entirely on exam/quiz performance and they are usually pretty difficult but it is organic chem so it's always difficult. Coming out of his class, you will definitely know what you're doing.
Geiger is really friendly, but the class is an honors class and therefore one of the most difficult I have taken. If you want to do well or understand at all, you have to do an EXTREME amount of outside work. He is willing to help, but the mid year exam and final were very difficult because it you must know how to solve every type of problem.
Great teacher. The course is very fascinating. This is an Honors class though, so it is no simple A. There is a lot of learning done on your own from the text book, but it is reinforced in class. He is a stickler for the small things. Overall: my favorite class BY FAR!!! I really understand chemistry now.
He is a pretty intelligent guy. That being said, his courses can move a bit quickly. As far as exams, he will trip you up/surprise you on a lot of small details, which added up on exams can be detrimental to your grade. Homeworks and tests are impartial. Not too approachable outside of class. In the end though, I learned a LOT and am glad I took his class
Dr. David Geiger is a very intelligent man, but he should not be a teacher. The way he explains things makes no sense, his entire class is straight out of the textbook and even adds things that are not in the textbook and exams you on it. He gives impossible exams with no partial credit, difficult tests, and asks questions that exam you on exceptions. BAD |
