at 1st he looked like a real difficulta**. by the final exam i had totally different impression, and friendly surprise with the grade :) He rewards effort and proper etiquet in class. intellectual level was highest of all profs i had. We had only 2 books and he handed out all articles to save us money. Wish i could take all his courses
liked course, liked prof, got A, life was great. I spotted him at a club last w/e and remembered his courses - totally great prof ever!
I knew nothing abt european govts b4 taking his class & he had 1,000 insights and experiences he shared about how those govts are structured & operate. So compared with american profs, he has 'insider' information and acquaintances, which made this v fascinating for me. simple A... but then, I did all the reading and took notes.
Show up, do the reading, participate at least a little, refrain from private chatter during class, and get an A. Worked for me.
I knew nothing about european govts b4 taking his class & he was v fascinating & had 1,000 insights & observations. And friends inside european govts or the EU. So, compared with american prof.s, his experience is unique and 'insider'. simple grade...but then, I did all the reading.
Very fascinating courses on european governments and d political cultures in their systems. he wrote one of the books we used. he's humane, simplegoing-- strict about cheating and talking in class, in which case he's evil-- but about everything else he's flexible and a friendly guy. i kept his notes cuz his experience from europe is like nobody else's.
Very knowledgeable about European political systems. I enjoyed having this class with an author whose book is required in the govt dept at harvard. Very demanding exams - all essay. His lecture on socialism in europe was inspiring. Very challening to those of us who know only US govt from high school. But worth it.
One of the most inspiring prof.s around. I liked his discussions on socialism, especially marx, which was outstanding. However it's alotta work for a low grade. Completely different from American politics course, which I also took with him- that was relatively simple. |
