Dining services offer giveaways

Buffalo State dining services have new end-of-the-semester promotions for students
and some changes to campus dining for the fall 2012 semester.
"Stock Me Up" is a new program this semester to help students use up extra dining
dollars they may have left toward the end of the semester.
"It is an order form that students can fill out to purchase items in bulk, in order
to help them use up their remaining dining dollars that don't carry over to next
semester," said Marissa Dinello, marketing director for dining services.
This order form can be used to purchase drinks like Gatorade and Rockstar, snacks
like Doritos and Oreos, and breakfast foods or mini meals such as bagels and Pop-
Tarts.
According to Dinello, students can pick up their order form from the front desk
of any residence hall or retail dining location and bring them to a register in the
Campbell Student Union where it will be rung up by a cashier, who will bring it to
the dining office to place the order.
Orders may be picked up on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. from the student union
loading dock. However, students must place the order by Thursday at 7 p.m. for it to
arrive that Saturday.
"Study Break" is an end of the year promotion that began on April 23 and will run
through May 12. It offers discounted menu items from certain food court locations.
Students can purchase a 16-inch margherita pizza from 2.Mato, originally priced
at $14.99, for only $10.99. They could also purchase 12 wings from The Strip,
originally priced $8.99 for $7.99 from 7 to 11 p.m.
This program also offers students a free tall espresso coffee from Starbucks or Spot
Coffee after purchasing five.
Students can purchase a T-shirt from Smashed Burger or Bluw for $5, as part of
the "Study Break" promotion as well. Dinello said they can then earn a 10 percent
discount when they wear their t-shirt in line at the location where they bought it.
Many of the promotions the dining services offered this year will return for the fall
2012 semester. Dinello said the people at the dining services office are not yet sure
exactly what will return, though.
"We are definitely going to carry the WOW deals over for the next semester, since
they did very well," she said.
WOW deals offer a certain meal from one of the food court locations at a discounted
price every day of the week from 1 to 3 p.m.
Subway will be coming to the food court in the student union for the fall 2012
semester, according to Manny Lezama, the senior director of dining services at
Buffalo State. It will be replacing Sub Generation.
"Having a Subway on campus would be great because I like Subway a lot better
than the sandwich places they have had here the past few years," said Starlyn Baez,
a junior economics major. "It would also be a shorter walk than to the Subway on
Elmwood."
Subway will operate the same way and with the same promotions as any off-campus
Subway location, Dinello said.
There will likely be more off- campus restaurants added to the list of those
accepting Bengal Bucks for the start of the Fall 2012 semester as well.
As of now, the participating restaurants include Subway, Zonies, Elmwood Taco
and Subs, Jim's Steakout and Mango'z. Great Wall, JP Bullfeathers and Just Pizza
are some of the restaurants still deciding whether to accept them. Students can see
updates about what new restaurants have been added to this program by logging on
to the Buffalo State dining services website.
