Week 3 Fantasy: What is going on?

With three games in the books, it's time to figure out whether or not your fantasy team is good enough
to win your league.
There have been plenty of surprise performances so far as Ben Roethlisberger, C.J. Spiller, A.J. Green
and Tony Gonzalez lead the league in fantasy points at their respective positions.
Conversely, players like Philip Rivers, Chris Johnson, Steven Jackson and Larry Fitzgerald have been a
disappointment compared to the production value that is supposed to come with where they were
picked.
Matt Forte, Ryan Matthews, Fred Jackson, Greg Jennings, Jeremy Maclin and Antonio Gates are among
players who have had injuries affect their performances early on.
The question is which players can be relied on for the rest of the season and which players should be
dropped or released.
In Pittsburgh, Roethlisberger has taken over the Steelers' offense with Rashard Mendenhall out and
replacement Isaac Redman struggling to pick up the slack. However, reports indicate that Mendenhall
will be back in Week 5 after their bye week.
Spiller sustained a sprained AC joint against Cleveland and is expected to be out 1-2 weeks. His
teammate, Fred Jackson, who has a sprained knee, may return Sunday against the Patriots. When both
are healthy, will the Bills split the carries or will one of the two all-purpose threats take the reins of the
Bills' offense?
Reggie Bush suffered a knee injury this past week against the Jets, but the severity of the injury is still
unknown. Backup David Thomas has rushed for 80 yards on 22 carries and Lamar Miller has 113 yards
on 19 carries.
The Patriots offense has also changed with Aaron Hernandez's injury keeping him on the sidelines and
Wes Welker currently sitting in Bill Belicheck's dog house. Tom Brady has just four touchdown passes
in the first three weeks while running backs Stevan Ridley, Danny Woodhead and Brandon Bolden have
combined for three rushing touchdowns.
The Atlanta Falcons, who were expected to shift their run-first offense into a pass attack, haven't
disappointed. Matt Ryan, Roddy White, Julio Jones and Gonzalez have yet to disappoint while Michael
Turner hasn't done much.
Another player who hasn't done much is Titans' running back Chris Johnson. The former 2,000-yard
rusher has just 45 yards on 33 carries. Kenny Britt missed the first game of the season, but with seven
catches and no touchdowns, he has failed to satisfy his fantasy owners.
The Giants meanwhile are shocking everybody, especially after Eli Manning's 510 passing yards Week 2.
With Ahmad Bradshaw and Hakeem Nicks out for Week 3, Andre Brown and Ramses Barden stepped up
to help the Giants defeat the Panthers 36-7.
In Philadelphia, the Eagles are left wondering whether Michael Vick can lead them to the playoffs after
watching him throw six interceptions and fumble the ball four times through three games. To be fair,
Vick has been without top receiver Maclin and the offensive line has struggled.
It's going to be a fun season with more surprise performances from no-name players like Kevin
Ogletree's season-opening performance, but maybe the bigger question should be whether or not the
replacement referees will decide your fantasy fate. There have been questionable calls such as Ravens'
kicker Justin Tucker's game-winning field goal against the the Patriots and Seahawks' quarterback.
Russell Wilson's game-winning touchdown pass to Golden Tate that should have been ruled a Packers'
interception.
