The Walking Dead returns

The Walking Dead is a hit show on AMC and returned for season 3 on Sunday.
The season 2 finale shattered television drama ratings records with over 9 million viewers
tuning in, so anticipation for season 3 is at an all-time high.
The Walking Dead is based on a comic book written by Robert Kirkman, who also is the
executive producer of the show.
Season 2 ended in bloody fashion with the survivors (Rick, Lori, Carl, Daryl, Glenn, Maggie,
Andrea, Carol, Herschel, and T-Dog) forced off Herschel's farm by a herd of blood-
thirsty "walkers," or zombies.
This last episode made my hair stand on the back of my neck. It was a heart-pumping finale that
had me licking my lips for the return of the show.
I like how the directors left the series after the conclusion of season 2. Rick tells the group at
the end that democracy was dead, and anyone who didn't like it could leave. This left Rick to
settle into the "leader" role, which I think is an appropriate fit for him.
Rick also said that since the virus is airborne, all survivors have the disease that will eventually
turn them into a flesh-eating walker if they die or get a cut.
This brings a new dynamic element to the show. Anybody who is killed will come back as a
walker and attack the survivors no matter what. Nobody's safe in The Walking Dead and that's
why the show is so popular.
How season 3 will separate itself from the previous two seasons is a big question on my mind,
and the minds of many other fans. One way they seem to be looking to do this is by introducing
new characters.
Season 2 ended with the appearance of a mysterious hooded figure sporting a shiny katana
sword and two armless, jawless zombies on chains. This character is a fan favorite from the
comic book known as "Michonne."
I love her character in the comics. She is a serious zombie butt-kicking woman and I can't wait
to see her unleashed in the show. So get ready folks, she will quickly become a household
name.
The Governor, also from the comics, has been added to the series for season 3 as well. He plays
a nasty role, acting as a sort of bad guy to the survivors. It will be interesting to see how and
when The Governor shows up in season 3, and how his character develops compared to the
comics.
I'm also interested to see if Daryl will ever be re-united with his brother Merle, who was last
seen in season 1 before he vanished without his right hand, which he cut off himself to escape.
The Walking Dead will reach audiences young and old, and this show will determine if and
when students turn off Sunday Night football. If you like drama and action like me, then this
show is the only show you will change the channel for.
Memories will be made and characters will get eaten, so stay tuned as the suspense continues
with season 3 of The Walking Dead. It will rip you from limb to limb.
