Facebook irks users
Facebook is set to make changes to its design — again.
As a result, its many users are stirring up a riot, claiming that Facebook does not need to be changed, and that they no longer want to use it.
I don't see what the big deal is. Facebook has changed in the past, and it will change in the future. Technology is constantly updated to be made more efficient and user-friendly, and to adapt to fluctuating trends. It's the nature of the world we live in.
I think it's pointless for Apple to come out with a new, "improved" iPhone every six months (will this one have a flush-the-toilet app?), but I also don't use the iPhone.
If you paid for something, you have every right in the world to complain about it. If you didn't get your money's worth out of something, it's actually good to complain about it because you can warn people not to waste their own money on it.
In turn, low sales indicate to the manufacturer that their product needs to be updated or scrapped, and the problem is fixed.
Facebook, however, is a 100 percent free service that you elect to use. If you have a problem with the new Facebook, simply don't use it.
I return to my phone analogy.
I would honestly rather have a basic phone with just calling and texting, but if you want a good phone these days, you pretty much have to get one with a data plan. They're the only phones developers care about, so they're the only phones that are designed well.
So, I bit the bullet and got a phone with a data plan. Lo and behold, I actually like it. It's streamlined, easy to use and downright cool.
People have to keep in mind that there is a reason Facebook is updated. It's the sign of a good product.
The fact of the matter is, Facebook is the most successful and well-designed social networking site out there. As long as this continues, people will keep using Facebook.
This is what's going to happen: People will complain about the new Facebook for a while, then they'll get used to it, and then they won't care anymore. This cycle will repeat itself again and again. It happens every time.
Please keep your complaining to a minimum unless you are willing to get rid of your Facebook; in that case, once you're all nice and comfy with your new Google Plus account, don't be surprised when they change that, too.
