College Senate votes to support committee's recommendations

By Staff Reports
On December 13, 2011

On Thursday, Dec. 9, Buffalo State's College Senate voted to support a motion to eliminate BSC 101 from the college's curriculum.

This is part of the college's ongoing review of the Intellectual Foundations program, required of all students upon coming to Buffalo State.

The motion invoked considerable debate, but was eventually endorsed by the senate with a split vote.

Other motions brought forth by the senate's Curriculum Committee included reducing and simplifying the overall requirements of Intellectual Foundations, and disbursing the writing across the curriculum requirement throughout the college's individual majors.  Both motions were passed quickly, with unanimous decisions.

In the spring, the Senate Intellectual Foundations Oversight Committee will begin drafting a formal proposal, in order to make the official revisions to the program.
