great teacher. exam ARE MOSTLY ON CLASS MATERIAL. If he writes it on the board, you might need to know it. Review your notes before the exam and skim the texts being examed. exams are straight forward. friendly guy and simple to work with. Papers aren't difficult if you put a slight amount of effort into them.
Very intelligent, but somewhat unreceptive to the opinions of students. 30% of grade based on reading tests which are sometimes based on details so specific and irrelevant that reading will not help. One major essay/presentation which is straightforward; another essay with very vague instructions that will leave you prone to error.
prof. Gillin is my favorite prof. at Geneseo. He has such a refreshing approach to literature and english in general, you can tell that he really loves it. He is also a really friendly and understanding person. He is simple to approach and is very accommodating to those who show to him they are actually interested in learning.
Gillin's courses always kept me interested. He knows a wide range of literature and makes the relevant connections. I liked his courses and his ability to answer questions. He listens and cares, although he does not deviate from his policies. This may be out of impartialness so that he does not show favoritism. |
