There is a large amount of reading for a 100 level class. Her exams are incredibly specific, however she is very lenient. She drops an exam grade, is a impartial grader and even accepts late work. She does try to help a person if they're not doing well in class. Do not take this class if you are not interested in Sociology. You will find yourself bored.
WORST CLASS EVER So bad that I didn't even go half the time, despite the fact that I knew my grades were dropping quick. I really tried the first half of the semester, but it was too difficult to understand what she wanted, and I got bad grades anyway. Do yourself a huge favor, and take it with a different teacher. So avoid Kirk by any means necessary.
If one was to look around the class, the majority of the class is playing games or facebookin' on their computers. Kirk just rambles on and goes on feminist tangents periodically. Avoid her and the TA's admit her exams are BS and she throws curveballs all over the place. Avoid her!!
AVOID KIRK like the plague! Really difficult exams with ridiculously specific questions. Absurd amounts of reading for a 100 level class. She seems friendly in class but is really actually rude outside of class and in her emails. Her mycourses set up is the most confusing this I've ever seen. Seriously...don't ruin a semester and take it with Tamura instead
Decent prof.. Really difficult exams. Asks a lot of specific questions. Big project on a country, but it's the only essay. Class can be sort of dull sometimes. Go to the extra credit, and the review sessions and you'll do fine!
Deffinetly go to extra credit! Recommend going to the max offered.
I'm in this class currently. DO NOT TAKE SOC 105! PLEASE TAKE MY WORD FOR IT. The prof. is so scatterbrained that you fall into the pits of her confusion. Her exams resemble her confusion! There's topics you've never heard of on them. She's quite clearly a mess. A MESS. So what if this class fufills two requirements. It was my my mistake.
This class is not as difficult as everyone says it is. All you have to do is try a little bit. She is cute and has a great British accent! There is more reading than a regular 100-level class, but most of it is very fascinating. You learn a lot about the real world in this class.
She uses powerpoints made by other prof.s, is completely scatterbrained and can't teach. It's so difficult to follow what she's talking about. Don't take this class! |
