Kick back and enjoy Relaxation Night before finals week

After long hours of studying, making flashcards, and worrying about final exams and
last minute papers, a night of stress-free fun will cure your frustration.

Relaxation Night will take place in The Student Union Thursday from 7 p.m. to 11
p.m. courtesy of Health Promotions, Resident Hall Association, and United Students
Government.

Relaxation Night was created to provide students with a few hours of helpful tips,
entertainment, and relaxing treatments to get their minds off of the semester's last
minute stresses.

This event is free to all students with valid I.D.

This night, as well as being longer than previous Relaxation Nights, will host a new
service provided by the company Campus Spa. Discovered and booked by USG
Student Life, it will add a whole new feel to the annual event.

Campus Spa is a traveling spa that goes to schools all over the United States for
events such as this and will be available throughout the whole night.

Andrea Wright, associate vice president for Student Life, said this will be a great
addition to help students relax before finals week.

"We're responsible for booking the spa," Wright said. "A feature I'm really looking
forward to is aromatherapy."

With Campus Spa, students will be able to get hand, foot and calf massages,
experience Oxygen and Aroma Therapy, and a full personal chair massage.

There will also be a manicure station set up in the upper lobby of the Union.

Students can either paint their own nails or sit back and let a member of RHA paint
them.

Shawna Morgan, a senior, said she is especially looking forward to the manicure
station.

"I will definitely be going to get my nails painted, " Morgan said. "Regardless of it
being a professional or not painting them, at least I won't have to do it."

A DJ from WBNY will be there throughout the night as well, playing music and
providing upbeat tunes to keep the night lively.

There will be stations set up with lots of relaxing crafts as well. Stress ball making,
an art therapy table, and a make your own holiday card table will be available to all
who attend. All supplies will be provided for free.

In continuation of the semester-long Health Promotions event Better Bites, healthy
food stations and snacking areas will be set up with items such as cheese and
crackers, veggie platters, fruit platters and smoothies.

Tammy Kresge, the assistant director for Health Promotions, said she is looking
forward to the union's first big event since its renovation.

"Better Bites was a healthy eating series that went on throughout the whole
semester and we'll be incorporating the themes we've touched on throughout the
semester during Relaxation Night," Kresge said.

Along with snacking healthy, there will also be a table where you can ask questions
and get helpful eating tips.

"This is especially important during finals week when people are not consuming
wholesome meals, but just snacking," Kresge said.

There will be various gaming competitions in the Game Room from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
as well.

Ping Pong, board games and Guitar Hero will all be featured.

After the competitions, all are welcome to the viewing of the movie Sparkle in the
Game Room from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.
